Kyokai Kenpo sets the health insurance premium rate for each prefecture. The rates applied from March 2023 can be found by following the link above. The highest rate is 10.51% in Saga, while the rate in Niigata is the lowest at 9.33%, showing a wide difference between the prefectures.
[2] Long-term care insurance rates has been raised
Long-term care insurance rate is also reviewed annually to achieve a balance of revenue and expenditure of a single year. The rate has been raised from 1.64% to 1.82%, which will be applied from March 2023.
Since the premium rates of health insurance and long-term care insurance are changed in March, companies who pay bonuses in March have to use the new rates in calculating deduction. As for salaries, the rates should be changed according to the companies’ setting of the deduction of social insurance premiums. Companies enrolled in an industrial health insurance association should check the information provided by the association.
